Road Dust in Urban and Industrial Environments: Sources, Pollutants, Impacts, and Management

نویسندگان

چکیده

Road dust (RD) is one of the most important sources particles in atmosphere, especially industrial areas and cities. In this special issue, we collected 16 original articles that describe field, experimental, modeling studies related to RD its various size fractions as a key issue understanding relationships between several urban environments identification pollution sources. Articles focus primarily on following main topics: (1) study chemical composition speciation source attribution; (2) assessment aerosol levels (including express technique), environmental hazards public health risks; (3) distribution stable radioactive isotopes RD; (4) determination factors affecting level accumulation roads intensity pollution; (5) effect atmosphere other environments. Based results presented but not limited to, some current challenges studying are formulated, including need for further geographically wider analytically deeper work aspects formation, transport pathways, urban, areas.

Assessment of Heavy Metals in Road Dust of Behbahan City, Iran: Distribution, Sources and Health Risks

Introduction: Road dust is a group of solid particles that are presented in the urban areas and are originated from both natural and human-induced sources. This study aims to determine concentrations of heavy metals in urban dusts in Behbahan to identify their natural or anthropogenic sources. Materials and Methods: In this study, a total of 20 samples were collected from main roads with diffe...

Trends of road dust emissions contributions on ambient air particulate levels at rural, urban and industrial sites in southern Spain

The impact of road dust emissions on PM10 and PM2.5 (atmospheric particulate matter with diameteer < 10 μm and 2.5 μm mass concentrations recorded from 2003 to 2010 at 11 locations (rural, urban and industrial) in southern Spain was estimated based on the chemical characterization of PM and the use of a constrained Positive Matrix Factorization, where the chemical profile of local road dust sam...

Habitat analogues for reconciliation ecology in urban and industrial environments

1. Current views of anthropogenic environments emphasize the extreme novelty of urban and industrial ecosystems. Proponents of reconciliation ecology argue that we need to use such habitats to conserve biodiversity, given the inadequacy of natural reserve systems. 2. Some of the harshest anthropogenic ecosystems may be able to support indigenous biodiversity due to their structural or functiona...
